Stanly is arrested for a crime he didn’t commit and instead of prison he is sent to Camp Green Lake where there isn’t a lake and it isn’t green. He is supposed to dig a hole a day to build character.
Malcolm’s friend Shorty showed up in Harlem to save him from the mess he was in. Shorty drove him all the way back to Boston to save him from getting killed.
Malcolm has just returned from Lansing and has decided he wants to move to Harlem. He gets a new job as a waiter at the place he hangs out all the time. Malcolm meets a new person named Sammy that is going to teach him how to hustle in Harlem.
Malcolm had just stolen apples with his brother, this connects to the world because large amounts of people steal food just to get by. This happens very often in the real world.
As Malcolm first arrives in Boston he goes to this place a lot of people his age hang out and instead of trying to make new friends he orders food and sits off to the side because he doesn’t feel like he connects with anyone.
I connect to this because a lot of times I won’t interact with people because I don’t feel like I would relate to them.
